Dear Little Lentil,
Last night we felt you kick for the very first time!!
It was one of the most exciting experiences of our life 🙂 I wish you could have seen your dad’s face.
Up until now I would have to close my eyes and really focus to feel any type of movement from you at all. Sometimes I got lucky. Sometimes, I felt a little… umm… I’m not sure how to describe it… movement.
Other people describe these movements as flutters or say that it feels like butterflies in their belly. However, I wouldn’t use either of those words to describe the movements that I felt. It is actually really hard to describe. I know that it is you kicking me from the inside but it is just a really weird (but wonderful) sensation.

The doctor said that I have anterior placenta which means that my placenta is at the front and you are sitting behind it. That means that whenever you kick me, you are actually kicking the placenta first. This makes it difficult for me to feel anything. Most other mothers will feel kicks from their babies much earlier during their pregnancy. Apparently It can start as early as 16 weeks. All of the other mothers on my Mummy’s Facebook Group have been sharing beautiful stories about their baby kicking experiences for weeks and weeks now. I got a little bit jealous but I knew that it would happen one day…eventually. I just needed to be patient.

Then, last night, it happened. You kicked. And boy did I feel it. Your dad was just getting out of the shower and he walked in to the bedroom talking about something and trying to start a conversation with me. I interrupted him (I can’t even remember what he was talking about) and I said that you have been madly kicking me for the last 5 minutes. Your dad jumped on the bed with excitement and he put his ear to my belly. We waited. And waited. There was nothing.
Your dad got so upset. He thought that he had missed out. But we waited a little while longer and there it was… you kicked your dad in the face. Lol.
We both felt it. It was so amazing.
You continued to kick every 30 seconds or so. We lied in bed together for about 45 minutes to feel you kick. Then eventually you stopped and we couldn’t feel you any more.
I’m almost 22 weeks pregnant now. You will be here before we know it.
We can’t wait to meet you.
Love from,
Mummy & Daddy

Yay!! I love babies. Let me know how you go… sometimes having a baby can be a lot trickier than you think. It took us over 4 years to create little lentil. Best of luck to you and your growing family 🙂
