When you are packing your hospital bag, think about your shower gel. You will want to pack something that doesn’t have a strong fragrance scent because you don’t want the smell of your shower gel or any perfume to transfer over to your baby. Your baby’s senses are so new and sensitive. She/He needs to smell you and your natural scent to look for your boobs and to start feeding.
After an intensive labour, an emergency c section and lots of emotional moments… the very 1st shower after birth is something transformational.
I can’t really explain the feeling I had during that first shower but I will never forget it.
It was amazing, refreshing, rejuvenating. It was just a shower in a small hospital bathroom but it was also my first time alone after a major life event and it was going to be my last time alone for a while because from that moment on everything will be about my baby and my body was about to go through some massive changes.
This Clarins Shower Gel (which I can not pronounce the name of) was suggested to me by a friend. She hyped about it and I didn’t really know why until after that 1st shower moment.
I’m not telling anyone to go out an buy this particular brand of shower gel. I’m not affiliated with it in any way and I’m not promoting it but I can say it was a divine experience for me.
I used it in the hospital after my first baby and used it again this week with baby 2. To be honest I don’t really like the smell of it and I didn’t use it at home during “normal life”. But using it in the hospital was just amazing.
When you get around to having your first shower, take your time and enjoy the experience. Let the water run and be alone for a while. Take as long as you need.
