Thermomix Recipe Abbreviations

WTF Thermomix AbbreviationsWhen you are new to the Thermomix world, everything can be a little overwhelming. Even for me, as a Thermomix Consultant! I often use google to search for the meaning of recipe abbreviations. It can be confusing.

For the record… I apologise for swearing in this blog title. WTF stands for “What The F##k.” LOL! That one means Laugh Out Loud.

I hope this abbreviation list helps you. If you know any others please leave a comment and I’ll add them to the list!

Thermomix Recipe Abbreviations:

Equipment:

TMX – Thermomix

TM – Thermomix

TM5 – Current/New Model of the Thermomix with new chip technology and a larger bowl capacity (2014/2015)

TM31 – Old model of the Thermomix (no chip, smaller bowl capacity than the TM5)

TM21 – A very old model of the Thermomix

TS – Thermoserver

MC – Measuring Cup

BBL – Bowl, Blade and Lid

BBBL – Bowl, Blade, Butterfly & Lid (You get all of these pieces as well as an MC when you purchase a new set)

TTS – Time, Temperature, Speed

VT – Varoma Temperature

RC – Sometimes this is the Recipe Chip, sometimes it is the Recipe Community

Cook-Key – wireless internet connection which will enable you to use guided cooking on your TM5 from the recipe platform. Super cook new technology which is coming soon!! Can’t wait!

TRP – The Recipe Platform. Coming soon!

BT – Before Thermomix (I use this all the time when I am talking about what I used to do before I had a Thermi)

Recipe & Cooking Abbreviations

GF – Gluten Free

DF – Dairy Free

SF – Sugar Free

RSF – Refined Sugar Free

NF – Nut Free

V – Vegetarian

Vg – Vegan

LCHF – Low Carb High Fat (diets)

HCG – Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin – HCGProtocol Diet is an elimination diet

EVOO – Extra Virgin Olive Oil

S&P – Salt and Pepper

ACV – Apple Cider Vinegar

CADA – Coconut, Almonds, Dates, Apple

YIAH – Your Inspiration At Home – spices and seasonings that people often like to use with their thermomix recipes

EDC Stock – vegetable stock. This abbreviate is often found in recipes listed on the RC (recipe community). It is vegetable stock from the EDC (Everyday Cook Book) which is the book that came with the old machine TM31. This vegetable stock recipe is the same as the TM5 recipe in the BCB (Basic Cook Book).

VSC – Vegetable Stock Concentrate (same as above)

tbs or tbsp – Tablespoon

tsp – Teaspoon

min – minute or minutes

hr – hour or hours

doz – dozen

mod – moderate or moderately

L – litre

ml – millilitre

kg – kilogram

g – gram

oz – ounce or ounces

lb – pound or pounds

EDC – Everyday Cook Book (comes with the TM31)

EDCF – Everyday Cooking For Thermomix Families (similar to the EDC except it has been updated for TM5 owners and it has a few extra recipes)

Bump – bumping up a Facebook post to the top of a group so that it can be read again by others

F – stands for following (you will see this on Facebook posts/groups). Or sometimes people will just use a full stop. This is so that they can receive ongoing notifications from the post.

DS – Darling Son

DD – Darling Daughter

LO – Little One

DH – Darling Husband (not dick head lol)

LOL – Laugh out loud

LMFAO – Laughing my fucking ass off

ROTFLMAO – Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off

NBR – Not baby related

NTR – Not Thermomix related

NFR – Not food related

MIL – Mother in law

FIL – Father in law

ILs – Inlaws

OMG – Oh my God

TMI – Too much information

BRB – Be right back

BTW – By the way

IMO – In my opinion

IMHO – In my humble opinion or In my honest opinion

  1. As a beginner to TM it is also useful to know that when reading recipies that call for say 300g of liquid (ie: Cream) when buying in ml these are typically (I have found thus far any way) the same. Eg: recipies in TM land asks for 300g cream, I buy in ml 300ml

    1. Grams and mls are sometimes the same but it depends on the density of the liquid. Water has the same measurement. Pouring cream might but thickened cream would be more dense and therefore you would need more.
