Paleo is often refered to as the “Caveman Diet”. Actually I use that phrase all the time because it is the easiest way to explain the new diet I am following for the 90 Day Challenge. Today was DAY 88 and today I felt like I was really living in the dark ages.
Living Like A Caveman
When I woke up this morning (late because my alarm clock didn’t go off), I stumbled downstairs to find my refrigerator turned off, my wi-fi disconnected, my phone battery dead and the air conditioning off. I freak out just a little bit because I had no idea what was going on. I can not survive without my mobile phone for more than 5 minutes so I ran across to the neighbour’s house to see if I could borrow a phone charger.
I soon discovered that power had been turned off in the whole street so that works could be done by the electricity company. Laughing to myself, I thought – be careful with what you wish for.
These last few days have all been about eating like cavemen and today I get to experiment with living like one.
Ok, so maybe I’m exaggerating a little bit. One day without power is not the end of the world but it sure did change my routine. To be honest I actually enjoyed it. Without my phone buzzing every 30 seconds and with the TV off, I felt very peaceful sitting on my couch with nothing to do. It got me thinking about life before technology…
I can not imagine my life without the electronic equipment in my house. I love my laptop and I love my washing machine. What would I do without them?
Maybe I will leave that experiment for another day. One step at a time. Right now, I need to stay focused on just the Caveman Diet and maybe one day in the future, I will experiment with Caveman Living (in winter time when I don’t need my air conditioning).
What Did I Eat on DAY 88?
I don’t have any pictures to show because I didn’t have the use of my phone, my laptop or my camera. I also couldn’t use my microwave or electric stove to warm up any food. So I was stuck eating cold, left-overs from last night’s family dinner party.
