Do we need to learn German?

I just had a thought. We are going to be working, and living in Austria for a very long time which means that we needa to speaka their language. I didn’t even know what language people speak in Austria until i read about it on the Lonley Planet website two secs ago. German is the most common language. So does that mean we need to learn German?
